Al Nama Herbals offers Boswellia Papyrifera, frankincense originated from Sudan, which is mainly used for burning and medicinal purposes by pharmaceutical companies around the world.
Boswellia Papyrifera frankincense, found in Somalia, North Africa, and Arabia in dry Acacia-Commiphora woodland and wooded grassland. The tree predominates in Eritrea in the steep, rocky slopes of the western escarpments, such as those around Arewai, Tsebab, Jengeren, Meshalit, Shelalo, Augaro, Badime, the Tekeze river, Zaide-kolom, and Berakit, which are located between 1,100 and 1,900 metres above sea level.
Boswellia Papyrifera, frankincense can be harvested from October through March. On the bark, the resin-gum droplets are scraped off. This initial cutting is wasted, and a subsequent, low-quality cutting is made several weeks later. High-quality frankincense is produced by a third cutting. Every year, the southern Arabian peninsula alone produces a few tonnes of frankincense for ceremonial and medicinal purposes. Better frankincense can be found in Somalia and Saudi Arabia as B. sacra.
