The eastern section of Africa’s dry regions, in particular, are endowed with a variety of plant resources that are significant from an environmental and socioeconomic standpoint. These resources include, for instance, species from the genera Acacia, Commiphora, and Boswellia. They generate extracts such as gums, oils, resins, and others that are in high demand across many modern sectors.
The two most significant tree species in the genus Boswellia for commercial use in Africa are Boswellia papyrifera and Boswellia neglecta.
